The Agaricus mushroom (Agaricus subrufescens) is known by many names: its German name is "Brazilian Almond Agaric" or simply "Almond Mushroom". Formerly, it bore the scientific name Agaricus blazei murrill or "ABM mushroom", named after William Alphons Murrill, who first described Agaricus subrufescens in 1947.

Agaricus Capsules or Extract – Which one is right for you?

As with all vital plants, the concentration of active ingredients in the untreated mushroom can vary greatly. Therefore, a standardized processing, as guaranteed by Hawlik vital mushroom products, is recommended for the application and dosage of the Agaricus subrufescens mushroom.

At Hawlik, Agaricus is available in the following dosage forms

Agaricus Powder Capsules

The "classic," ground from the pure, valuable fruiting body. Each capsule contains 500 mg of Agaricus vital mushroom powder. Dosage: Two Agaricus powder capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid with meals.

Agaricus Extract Capsules

– through the extraction of Agaricus, the ingredients are concentrated to about 20 times that of the powder. The extract is correspondingly effective. Each vegetable capsule contains 300 mg of vital mushroom extract and 40 mg of acerola extract (equivalent to 7 mg of vitamin C). Dosage: Two Agaricus extract capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid with meals.

Agaricus Extract and Powder Capsules

Our customer favorite combines the benefits of extract and powder. Each vegetable capsule contains 250 mg of vital mushroom extract, 150 mg of vital mushroom powder, and 8.5 mg of natural vitamin C.
Dosage: Two capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid in the morning and at noon with meals.

Agaricus Liquid Extract

Highly concentrated, liquid food supplement with Agaricus extract. Easy to swallow. With added vitamin C, potassium, and zinc. Dosage: 2.5 ml of Agaricus liquid extract twice daily with meals – pure or diluted in a glass of water. Best taken in the morning and at noon.

Agaricus Powder

Ideal for mixing into other foods or for direct consumption. Made from whole, gently dried and ground, fully mature fruiting bodies. Dosage: Add 1-2 level measuring spoons of Agaricus powder daily to plenty of liquid and drink. Alternatively, mix into food. One measuring spoon corresponds to approx. 2 g of powder.

Agaricus Dried

The entire fruiting body with stem, hand-picked, of the best quality. Gently dried for further processing.

Origin, Cultivation, and Use of the Agaricus Mushroom

However, it was also found that the mushroom species Agaricus brasiliensis is genetically identical to Agaricus blazei Murrill – all three Latin names thus refer to the same mushroom. Colloquially, Agaricus is also known as "Sun Mushroom" and "Mushroom of Life." In Brazil, it is also called "God's Mushroom," and in China and Japan, it is known as "Himematsutake." Agaricus belongs – as can be clearly seen from its appearance of a white stem and usually light brown, rounded cap – to the genus of cultivated mushrooms (Champignons). As the scientific name Agaricus brasiliensis already suggests, the Agaricus mushroom is originally from South America, more precisely: the Brazilian rainforest. There it is – as it now is throughout the entire South American continent – a popular edible mushroom known for its slightly nutty aroma. After being exclusively wild-collected for a long time, Agaricus has also been commercially cultivated in fields since the early 1990s. It can also be cultivated very well on substrate – like all representatives of the cultivated mushroom genus. Meanwhile, the cultivation of Agaricus has also spread to Asia.
Since the almond mushroom was only discovered in the 1950s and scientific interest in the mushroom only developed in the 1980s, it is still relatively unknown outside of Asia and South America and is the youngest member of the Hawlik vital mushroom products.

Agaricus Mushroom Ingredients

The vital mushroom Agaricus is characterized by an exceptionally balanced ratio of valuable vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, as well as a particularly high proportion of polysaccharides – the highest among vital mushrooms! It is particularly rich in mushroom-typical beta-glucans, a special type of polysaccharides that are contained in Agaricus extract in a particularly easily usable form. Also noteworthy is its high content of ergosterol, a precursor to vitamin D.

Agaricus, commonly known as the Almond Mushroom or Sun Mushroom (Agaricus blazei Murrill), is a vital mushroom originally from South America and now appreciated worldwide. It is characterized by its mild, slightly nutty aroma and its versatile natural composition.

Key ingredients of Agaricus include:

Polysaccharides:

Complex carbohydrates that make up a significant component of the mushroom.

Beta-glucans:

Natural dietary fibers typical of many mushroom species.

Proteins and Amino Acids:

Agaricus contains various essential and non-essential amino acids.

Vitamins:

Mainly B vitamins such as B1, B2, and niacin are present.

Minerals and Trace Elements:

These include potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, among others.

Secondary Plant Compounds:

Natural compounds such as sterols and phenols that contribute to the overall composition.

Our Agaricus products are made from carefully selected raw materials and gently processed to best preserve their natural ingredients. Whether as capsules or powder – Agaricus can be easily integrated into your daily diet.
