Shiitake capsules or extract – what suits you best?

Shiitake: These are the forms you can buy from Hawlik:

As with all vital plants, the concentration of active ingredients in the untreated mushroom can vary greatly. For the application and dosage of the Shiitake mushroom, therefore, a standardized processing is recommended, as is guaranteed with Hawlik vital mushroom products.
You can buy Shiitake in the following forms in our shop:

Shiitake Powder Capsules

The “classic,” obtained from the natural mushroom. Each capsule contains 400 mg of Shiitake powder, ground from hand-picked and gently dried fruiting bodies. Dosage: Two Shiitake powder capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid with meals.

Shiitake Extract Capsules

Highly concentrated dosage through extraction to 30% polysaccharides. With an extra dose of Vitamin C through acerola additive, which increases the human body's absorption capacity for the mushroom. The polysaccharides in our extract have a particularly high bioavailability for the human body due to processing. Contains 300 mg vital mushroom extract and 40 mg acerola extract per capsule. Dosage: Two Shiitake extract capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid with meals.

Shiitake Organic Extract and Powder Capsules

Our customer favorite combines the benefits of highly dosed extract and natural powder. Each vegetarian capsule contains 250 mg Shiitake extract, 150 mg Shiitake powder, and 8.5 mg natural Vitamin C. Dosage: Two capsules twice daily with plenty of liquid in the morning and at lunchtime with meals.

Shiitake Liquid Extract

Highly concentrated with 40% polysaccharides and easy to swallow. With Vitamin C, potassium, and zinc as an additive for a balanced immune system and to protect cells from oxidative stress.
Dosage: 2.5 ml of Shiitake liquid extract twice daily with meals – pure or diluted in a glass of water.

Shiitake Powder

Ideal for mixing into other foods or for direct consumption. Made from whole, gently dried and ground fruiting bodies. Dosage: Add 1-2 level measuring spoons of Shiitake powder to plenty of liquid daily and drink. Alternatively, the powder can also be mixed into food. One measuring spoon corresponds to approx. 2 g of powder.

Dried Shiitake

Whole caps without stems of hand-picked, best quality. Gently dried for further processing. As a highly aromatic mushroom, Shiitake is wonderful not only for Asian cuisine but also in pasta, salads and even classic German dishes such as cheese spaetzle or bread dumplings with mushrooms.

Buy Shiitake – high-quality mushroom as a food supplement

Shiitake are among the best-known vital mushrooms and have been valued in various cultures for centuries. Those who want to buy Shiitake can find it today in the form of capsules, powders, or extracts as a modern food supplement – ideal for a conscious and balanced diet.

What is Shiitake good for?

In the field of food supplements, Shiitake is particularly valued for its natural ingredients. The mushroom naturally contains fiber as well as various micronutrients and phytochemicals. In concentrated form, Shiitake can be easily and practically integrated into the daily diet – regardless of meals or cooking effort.

Shiitake food supplements are particularly popular with people who value plant-based raw materials, traditional natural products, and a nutrition-conscious lifestyle. Depending on the product, pure Shiitake powder or standardized extracts are used, often without additives and in vegan quality.

When buying Shiitake as a food supplement, quality and processing play a decisive role. Gentle drying, controlled origin, and transparent declaration ensure that the natural profile of the mushroom is preserved. This makes Shiitake a sensible addition for anyone who wants to consciously shape their diet.

Where and how do Shiitake mushrooms grow?

Shiitake mushrooms thrive on deciduous trees, especially on the Pasania tree, to which they owe their German name Pasaniapilz – but also their Chinese name. Because “shii” means “Pasania”. Wild-growing, the delicate Shiitake mushroom with its light to dark brown, slightly flaky cap can be found in the forests of China and Japan. Its cap is approx. 5-12 cm in diameter and relatively evenly round. Its scientific name Leninula comes from the Latin “lentus”, which means flexible or tough and refers to the flexible stem of the mushroom.

Origin, cultivation, and use of the Shiitake mushroom

Although the Shiitake mushroom originates from Asia, it is now commercially grown worldwide. In China, it has even been cultivated since 1000 AD! There, it has been valued for centuries not only as a vital mushroom but also as an edible mushroom. Today, the Shiitake mushroom is the most commonly consumed edible mushroom worldwide after the champignon. This may be mainly due to its particularly strong, spicy aroma, which has even been given its own name: umami, which can be perceived by the taste buds as the fifth taste alongside sweet, sour, salty, and bitter. It is firmer than its famous competitor, and its low energy value makes it an attractive food in calorie-conscious cuisine. The special smell, which is slightly reminiscent of leek, gives a vegetable pan a spicy taste, for example. Extracts from Shiitake can even be used in skin care. A face mask made from fresh mushrooms is just as beneficial as a spreadable paste made from Shiitake mushroom powder.

Shiitake Mushroom Ingredients

The ingredients of the Shiitake mushroom are attracting increasing scientific interest. It contains a lot of protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. In particular, studies focus on the properties of the polysaccharide lentinan, which is unique to the Shiitake mushroom. In addition, Shiitake mushrooms contain some of the B vitamins that are rather rare in nature, as well as a variety of minerals, including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, iron and zinc, as well as the provitamin D ergosterol and 7 of the 8 essential amino acids for humans. Its high nutrient density of minerals, trace elements and vitamins distinguishes Shiitake as a valuable vital mushroom.

Shiitake (Lentinula edodes) is a globally valued edible mushroom, originally from East Asia, where it has been traditionally used for centuries. In addition to its aromatic taste, Shiitake is characterized by a diverse natural composition.

The most important ingredients of Shiitake include:

Polysaccharides:

Complex carbohydrates that form a central component of the mushroom.

Beta-glucans:

Natural dietary fibers typical for mushrooms.

Proteins and amino acids:

Shiitake contains various essential and non-essential amino acids.

Vitamins:

Particularly noteworthy are B vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, and Vitamin D (depending on processing).

Minerals and trace elements:

These include potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, and zinc, among others.

Phytochemicals:

Natural compounds such as sterols and other mushroom-specific ingredients complement the profile.

Our Shiitake products are made from carefully selected raw materials and processed gently to preserve the natural ingredients as best as possible. Whether as capsules or powder – Shiitake can be easily and versatilely integrated into the daily diet.
