Its outward appearance is also reflected in its name, "glossy lacquer polypore." When looking at a Reishi mushroom, one might almost believe it's not real, because the fruiting body of the Reishi mushroom is covered with a strikingly shiny layer of resin. Due to its firm consistency, Reishi is primarily consumed in Europe as Reishi extract or Reishi powder.
Origin, cultivation and use of the Reishi mushroom
As a typical tree fungus, the glossy varnish polypore prefers deciduous trees and is therefore easy to grow on tree trunks. As a saprobiotic, it uses dead organic matter for food, thus contributing to a closed cycle in the ecosystem. The reishi mushroom is widespread throughout the world. Ingredients of the reishi mushroom, the "mushroom of immortality," contain numerous vitamins and minerals such as magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, and other vital substances. Furthermore, an analysis of its components shows that reishi is particularly rich in polysaccharides, particularly the high-quality beta-glucans, a special form of polysaccharide that are typical of the mushroom. Many of these ingredients are vital for the human organism and make reishi a valuable food. Over 130 different triterpenes have been identified in reishi to date. Many of these are highly active and have important biological functions. They are also responsible for the slightly bitter taste in reishi.
Reishi: You can buy these dosage forms at Hawlik
As with all natural products, the concentration of ingredients in untreated Reishi mushrooms can vary considerably. Therefore, standardized processing, as ensured by Hawlik medicinal mushroom products, is recommended for the application and dosage of the glossy varnish polypore. You can purchase Reishi mushrooms in our shop in the following dosage forms:
Reishi extract capsules
Extraction is a very ancient technique originating in Asia. Using heat and water, the coarsely ground Reishi extract is used to extract polysaccharides from the chitin structure of the Reishi. Since the human body cannot process chitinase, this is an important step in the production process. This type of processing is repeated until the powdered Reishi extract is standardized to at least 30% polysaccharides. Directions and dosage: Take 2 capsules twice daily, preferably in the morning and at lunchtime with meals, with plenty of water.
Reishi powder capsules
The mature, harvested fruit body is gently and sustainably dried in the sun and then pulverized into an extremely fine powder using a special grinding method. This "shell-broken" process ensures that the powder is ground to a size of less than 0.125 mm. This ensures that the valuable ingredients in the powder can be absorbed much better. Directions and dosage: Take 2 capsules twice daily, preferably in the morning and at lunchtime with plenty of water.
Reishi extract and powder capsules
Our customer favorite combines the benefits of extract and powder. Directions and dosage: Take 2 capsules twice daily, preferably in the morning and at lunch with meals, with plenty of water.
Reishi powder
Ideal for mixing into other foods or for direct consumption. Made from whole, gently dried, and ground fruit bodies. Directions and dosage: Take 2 capsules twice daily, preferably with meals in the morning and at lunchtime, with plenty of water.
Reishi liquid extract
We even standardize our liquid extract to 40% polysaccharides. This processing allows the body to absorb the valuable polysaccharides and beta-glucans even better – the substances dissolved from the mushroom powder are made bioavailable. Directions and dosage: Take 2.5 ml twice daily with meals, morning and noon.
Reishi tea as meal:
Simply pour hot water over it.
Dried Reishi
The entire fruit body is hand-picked and of the highest quality. Gently dried for further processing.
